Cartagena City Council has received a special mention by the City of La Union in honor of the brotherhood that existed between the two municipalities miners commemorating the centenary of the events of March 7, 1916.
The award was presented by the mayor of La Union, Pedro Lopez, Councillor for Citizen Security, Francisco Aznar, and the Councillor for Tourism, Obdulia Gomez, who praised the courage of the people to the climate of poverty and exploitation in the mine that period.
From the City of La Union experts have been held in recent days events commemorating the centenary of the facts, a key date in the history of the municipality for the recognition of the first social workers in the Sierra Minera conquests, one day strike which it was suppressed by the forces of law and order, taking the lives of eight workers.
