A tapestry of 2x14 meters cover the walls of the Cultural Centre until 15 March with the author and project manager, Alejandra Corral (Kusha), which has had the participation of 2,245 women from 46 countries for the creation of this tapestry.
The opening of Lagrimas Negras took place on Tuesday, March 1 on a date in which he did not miss the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejon, accompanied by the Councillor of the Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, and the mayor of Social Services Carmen Martin.
This proposal, which has been carried out since the Department of Equality and is part of the programming of March 8 on the occasion of International Women's Day, aims to claim the defense of human rights of women.
A piece have been added 1,896 small tapestries depicting tears shed by women, whose rights are violated daily.
The project aims to contribute through art to awareness and social transformation.
To contribute to the cause, all profits raised by the project will be donated to Project Hope Foundation Amaranta and fighting trafficking in women in Spanish territory and sexual slavery of girls in Asia.
For the creation of the tapestry has been used the technique of petit point, combined with others such as cross stitch.
Project management is carried out by the non-profit association Art and Social Consciousness, constituted to ensure financial transparency of the project and the legal protection of the work.
The project has received initial funding of 5,000 euros to which you have been adding contributions from the participants own supply of material.
The tapestry, which has already visited cities like London, at The Other fair exhibition, Evora, Portugal or Madrid, can now be seen in the walls of the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy for fifteen days.
