The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has published on its web board the various calls to cover grants to research initiation, for students, and specialization for graduates of the Chair "Infrastructure-City of Cartagena UPCT".

University researchers and technicians Consistory will work together to optimize urban infrastructure and improving environmental sustainability through this new Chair, coordinated by the Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure, Equipment and Sustainability.

Grants to research initiation are approximate amounts of 500 euros per month, while specialization have a staff of approximately 850 euros per month.

Lines of work

Jose Alvarez and Hector Conesa, researchers from Group Agrochemical R & D, Technology and Management of Soil and Substrates, addressed the characterization and restoration of degraded soils of the municipality by using urban organic waste for composting.

Encarna Conesa and Jesus Ochoa Group R & D of Mediterranean hortofloricultura, will focus on adapted to our climatic conditions and landscape design green infrastructure.

The Group R & D Engineering and Transport Infrastructure, led by Pilar Jiménez, will focus on the design phase of an integrated plan for sustainable urban mobility for the municipality of Cartagena.

The Research Group Water Resources Management, led by Sandra García Galiano, will focus on identifying actions for forecasting, monitoring and extent of flooded areas and compliance in the municipality of Cartagena, such as Sea area lower, central urban area, and golf Cartagena, considering conducting an assessment and proposals for prevention, protection and preparedness against floods.

José María Molina Group R & D Systems Mobile Communications will develop a platform to achieve a comprehensive settlement of all ICT City of Cartagena.

Finally, José Villarejo Group R & D Systems Division and Electronic Engineering will be responsible for improving the energy efficiency of municipal buildings and public lighting.
