Cartagena is preparing for Holy Week and this year makes first encouraging Cartagena to decorate their balconies.
Women Brethren association has organized this event to motivate people to become involved in the Easter of Cartagena and at the same time that the city look radiant on this holiday.
The competition aims that people decorate their balconies in an original way and that this use flags, flowers, candles or other ornament that comes to mind and that relates to Easter.
Councillor for Culture, David Martinez, was in charge of presenting the contest balconies beautification today, Wednesday, February 24, in the press room of the Town Hall;
accompanied in turn by the president of the association Women Brethren, Victoria Botí.
The mayor conveyed his enthusiasm for the new initiative because, according to Martinez, highlighting our Easter is the decor, flower, light, order, and all this is what makes it to be of International Tourist Interest.
The president of Women Brethren stressed the requirements to participate in the contest.

There will be a jury of art commissions of the four fraternities, people of the city council and the association Women Brethren, that will tour the balconies and decide the winners of the contest will be announced on April 4.
The winner of the contest will receive 250 euros, the second will receive 150 euros and two runners equipped with 50 euros and all will receive a diploma.
In addition, the contest is open to residents who have balconies in the streets you pass the Holy Week processions and also those who are out of this tour.
According Botí tradition to embellish the balconies although it is new this year in Cartagena is something deeply rooted in other areas like in Andalusia or in cities like Ciudad Real.
