The local branch of the party has submitted a general magenta instance on the Register of the City asking the Plaza de Bastarreche bearing the name of former Prime Minister and main architect of the Spanish Transition.
In response to the opening of the procedure for general information referred to in the agreement measures for the implementation of Law 52/2007 of 26 December on Historical Memory in our town, UPyD Cartagena this morning at City Hall change proposal designation for Bastarreche Square.
After being subjected to discussion among members and supporters of the local branch in recent weeks, UPyD Cartagena has decided that the figure of the president and principal architect of the Spanish Transition, Adolfo Suarez, is ideal for the renaming of such emblematic square and important as Bastarreche.
"We believe the city of Cartagena has a debt of gratitude to Adolfo Suarez and we think this is the best way of paying them accordingly," said Juan Daniel Mateo after leaving the Town Hall.
The magenta forming believes that after the death of president the March 23, 2014 and given the process of changing the name of streets and squares in progress, this is the perfect time to dedicate a space to which it was certainly the most important figure in a very complex political process which has resulted in nothing more and nothing less than the long and prosperous history of Spain democratic period.
