The city of Cartagena hosted the first ceremony of the IX edition of the Excellence Awards, which recognize the best shipping lines, better boats and Mediterranean destinations across 12 categories.
The choice of Cartagena for this ceremony is motivated by the significant growth and consolidation within the sector Spanish destinations experienced by the Port of Cartagena in recent years.
The gala took place on the evening of February 18 at the Auditorium The Batel, with the sponsorship of the City of Cartagena, the Port Authority and BC Agency.
The event brought together participants executives cruise shipping companies, tour operators, cruise lines, shippers, ports and destinations, travel agencies and other providers of the sector.
The mayor, Jose Lopez, was on hand to welcome these awards to the city and deliver the first award of the night and one of the most important: the City of Cartagena Excellence Award for best popular cruise shipping company, delivered Captain Antonio Toledo, director of Maritime Operations Pullmantur Cruise Croisieres de France.
Malta was chosen as the ideal destination in the Mediterranean, Barcelona won the Spanish port merit the best and proved Celestyal Cruises cruise company disclosure, among other awards.
