The Government delegate, Antonio Sanchez Solis, this morning visited the Strategic Base antipollution, the Coordination Center and the ship of state Clara Campoamor, Maritime Rescue, under the Ministry of Development.
Services of the agency in Cartagena coordinated the rescue, search assistance or 597 people in more than 200 maritime activities addressed in 2015.
Throughout that year, Salvage in Cartagena attended 178 emergencies Salvage, 24 to maritime safety and 4 with the protection of the environment, actions in which were involved 158 vessels, 114 of them were yachts, 12 merchant ships, fishing 9 and 23 other vessels.
In addition, they attended 144 immigrants who were in 12 boats.
Sanchez Solis has assessed the resources and facilities available to the Maritime Rescue Cartagena and stressed especially the magnificent social work being done in the care of people at risk and environmental protection.
The delegate of the Government has been accompanied by Sergio Rodriguez Carbonell, Head of Maritime Rescue Cartagena, Oscar Villar Serrano, Harbour Master, and Manuel Duran, CEO of the Independent Community Emergency.
