Councillor of Celebration, Florentina Garcia Vargas and Pedro Antonio Gomez, City Folk Group Cartagena de La Palma presented this morning's program of activities of the XVIII National Folk Festival in the District of Cartagena, to be held in the Palm of Casas Grandes of that deputation from 3 to 10 July.
This year the festival has a broad and inspiring cultural and leisure program, dedicated to the palm and its impact on popular culture in southeastern Spain.
This year's performance highlights Orchestra and New Mester of minstrelsy, as well as the participation of folk groups from Albacete, Ciudad Real, Huesca and of course the hosts, La Palma, which will offer the traditional music of their land.
Cultural activities will focus on the history of date palm and the popular culture of southeastern Spain, the cultivation and use of it.

Also, specialists will illustrate this with a talk about growing and harvesting of the palm.
Finally, children's workshops will focus on the environment in which to perform a biological gimkana, and learn about perfumes and essences.
All activities will be free admission.
