The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro and the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Transportation in the Region of Murcia, José Ballesta visit, along with the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, the repair of houses and public areas of the District Our Lady of Charity and Private Mediterranean.

The visit, scheduled for Tuesday, June 29 at 11:00 hours, shall relate to the completion of the rehabilitation of publicly owned houses, located in the Plaza of Human Rights in the street and Greece, as well as adaptation of the same for elderly and disabled, in the Barrio Virgen de la Caridad.

Later, visit the other houses in which they will carry out repairs.

TWO CONVENTIONS

There are two conventions that have signed Autonomous Region and City of Cartagena to deal with the repair work in social housing located in the neighborhood Virgen de la Caridad and the Mediterranean Urbanization, allocating a total of 640,000 euros to bring it through two plans Repair.

The first agreement for the Repair Plan I, 2009, has cost € 400,000 and has involved the repair of common areas, painting of the stairwells, installation of doors and down pipes under the homes of 112 in the six hundred, among others.

This project was an extension for dwellings occupied by elderly or disabled, which aims to facilitate mobility and access by changing bathtubs and shower trays with the overall arrangement of bathroom, tiling and sanitation change.

In addition and based on the law on water conservation, it also undertook the installation of aerators in faucets, incorporation of low pressure systems for flushing toilets and replacement of equipment and items that do not meet the required sealing.

In 2010 recruitment was carried out works of a new agreement, amounting to 240,000 euros, which includes the Repair Plan II.

This includes publicly-owned housing for groups of 58 of the Private Mediterranean and the 28 and 52 of the District Virgen de la Caridad.

This is a performance in 138 homes to be rehabilitated, as in the first Plan, aiming for water saving and facilitate mobility for elderly and disabled, also under downspouts.
