The Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faure, presented to the Governing Council of the UPCT a series of initiatives aimed at addressing the economic situation being experienced at present and, in particular, reducing 1.5 million euros that has cut the Autonomous Community for the operation of public universities.
Among the measures taken stressed the decision to close a large part of university facilities during the month of August.
This decision will mean significant savings in current expenditure in the UPCT.
The closure during this holiday period will mean the closure of some facilities like the swimming pool of Club Santiago.
However, some university services as the Campus Library of the Wall, certain laboratories of R & D building and certain services remain open the Chancellor not to adversely affect students and teachers can make use of them.
Another decision Félix Faure has presented to the Governing Council is the elimination of the official car of the president of the UPCT.
Thus, the vehicle will be available to the university for official travel outside Cartagena necessary.
The Chancellor also informed the supreme governing body of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, which was considered necessary to undertake a restructuring of management positions will be eliminated, among others, several coordinator positions in the Provost.
Other measures that have been approved are those relating to the containment of personnel costs and current expenses of the centers and the care protocol.
Overall, adjustment measures will mean a saving of 375,000 euros, which is the amount cut by the Autonomous Community of UPCT.
In any case, these measures do not affect the proper functioning of the University nor in its investment plan.
