The mayor, Noelia Arroyo, has transferred to the Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, the concern of the Cartagena City Council for the state of the lagoon, since it is the municipality most affected after the last anoxia crisis that has led to the death of 15 tons of marine species, and he has said that the solidarity of Europe is essential to tackle a problem that belongs to the State and requires the coordinated work of the administrations. The request was made by Arroyo in the course of a meeting that the European authority has held with the riverside mayors on the occasion of the visit that has turned to know the state of the Mar Menor. The mayor has valued the interest of the Commissioner to know and listen to the reality of the Mar Menor without the purpose of "investigating or judging anyone" and has given him a transfer of the requests made by the Plenary to take action by developing the plans developed to stop the input of fresh water with nitrates coming from the aquifer. Arroyo has insisted on requesting the collaboration of all administrations and their coordinated action following the same roadmap until the total recovery of the ecosystem.
