The project aims to quantify the impact that the APC generates in the social environment through its activity to be a more sustainable, efficient and effective port.
The Cartagena Port Authority has launched a project to monetize the social value that the Port will generate through its port activity.
"We are the first Spanish port that is committed to a sustainable business model through the monetary calculation produced by the people who work in the port community to improve management and increase transparency and visibility before the citizen," as reported by the president of the APC, Yolanda Muñoz.
Muñoz explained that "from a financial point of view, it is easy to know the economic impact of an entity, but there are aspects that produce value for most of the stakeholders of an organization and that are not included in these balance sheets, and that is social value.
We want to quantify the social impact produced by the more than 2,300 workers that make up the port community through their activity to have the real value that we generate in society and continue taking firm steps in our goal of being a More sustainable, efficient and effective port ".
This innovative project will allow to promote actions to continue improving the day-to-day life of citizens, betting on the environment, digitization and stimulating the economy.
"Our commitment to Cartagena goes beyond activating the economy, we want to be part of the daily life of Cartagena, improve their day to day through initiatives that improve the environment, the promotion of sport with the creation of the athletics club, the granting of subsidies to entities and associations of the municipality or with integration projects such as Plaza Mayor ", has underlined the president of the APC.
The work is developed within the framework of the sustainability strategy developed by the Cartagena Port Authority and is carried out with the expert support of GEAccounting, a non-profit group, oriented to the development and implementation of Social Accounting "urbi et orbi" .
Polyhedral Model, based on the Theory of Stakeholders The project is developed in several phases.
In a first phase, using the APC Stakeholders Map, all the interest groups to which the Port Authority transfers value are identified through a mapping, analyzing their influence and how they relate to each other.
After the interviews, a matrix of value variables is identified, that is, forms of value transfer from the organization to the different stakeholders.
Subsequently, the APC identifies the number of outputs transferred in relation to each of the identified value variables; and simultaneously the fair value is calculated, in relation to the subjective market value, which can be attributed to each type of output.
The result will be worked on identifying the set of economic outputs with social value and social outputs generated by APC, in order to proceed with their calculation and monetization.
Ultimately, all of this makes it possible to calculate, in the form of a matrix, the social value generated and transferred by the Cartagena Port Authority for all its stakeholders.
