| There are 15 vacancies for the Firefighting and Rescue Service | The Official State Gazette (BOE) has made public the call to incorporate 15 firefighter positions (C1) to the Fire Fighting and Rescue Service in the City of Cartagena.
To these fifteen places, corresponding to the Job Offer of 2017, will be added all the places of the workforce that remain vacant due to retirement or other causes.
Vacancies belong to the Special Administration scale, Special Services subscale and Fire Fighting Service class, through the opposition system, in free shift. According to the BOE published on January 25, the deadline for submitting instances will be twenty business days, starting on January 26.
The bases of the call can be consulted in full in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia on December 9, 2020.
They are attached to this news. According to the Councilor for Finance and Personnel, Esperanza Nieto, "with this job offer the situation of the firefighters' workforce will be reversed, quite reduced, and will result in a rejuvenation of the workforce", and recalled that this year they will be convened new places for the Local Police. The basic requirements include having a Bachelor's or technical degree, having physical and mental functional capacity to perform the functions, being in possession of a class C + E driving license and committing to use the vehicles of the Fire Fighting Service and Civil protection.
It will also be necessary for applicants to present with their application an official medical certificate, a photocopy of their ID and proof of payment of the examination fees. The process is structured in three phases: opposition, medical examination and selective tests.
Future firefighters will have to prove that they do not have vertigo, go through a smoke maze, climb four floors up a ladder with a weight of 20 kilos, as well as carry out an agility test.
In addition, they must be able to climb a rope, sprint 60 meters flat, bench press, run two kilometers, swim 50 meters, dive 25 meters in apnea and perform push-ups on a horizontal bar.
The tests will be eliminatory, so if one of the applicants fails one of them, they will not be able to continue examining. Likewise, they must pass a multiple choice exam and a development exam, as well as psychotechnical tests and a test that will consist of an oral presentation before the court.
Finally, those elected must pass an initial training course to be part of the municipal Fire Extinction Service. As of this Tuesday, January 26, the instances will be available to download and fill out in the Public Employment section of the municipal website. On the other hand, the City Council has also approved the bases to incorporate new civil servants in other departments: three positions of technician economist (A2), one of social graduate (A2) and one of inspector of taxes.
