[Two books rescue new poems by Carmen Conde on the 25th anniversary of her death (22/01/2021)

| The Cartagena City Council begins a new Condiano year presenting the anthology 'En pie la llama' and the volume 'Poemas a Amanda', works by Fran Garcés and Cari Fernández | This year marks the 25th anniversary of her death, in which various events will be held to commemorate the figure and work of our most exalted writer.

Various books will also be published that will recover his figure and his work.

This is how this new condiano year begins and the Cartagena City Council, through its Carmen Conde Antonio-Oliver Board of Trustees -which is also 40 years old-, joins the tribute to the figure and the work of its author, who awakens every time more interest both within our Region, as well as nationally and internationally. The new publications have been presented by the Councilor for the area of ??Culture, David Martínez, together with the authors Fran Garirá and Cari Fernández; who have revealed that the books have been nourished by part of the documents rescued by the National Police after being stolen from the Cartagena writer, in the last stage of her life, when she suffered from Alzheimer's.

Conde held the seat of the letter 'K' in the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE).

For them, "these new books are a tribute to all the people who have contributed to preserve the cultural legacy of Cartagena". The first of the books is the anthology En pie la llama which, edited by Fran Garcera and Editorial Renacimiento, covers the thirty-three books of poems that Carmen Conde published from 1929 to 1988 and reveals nine unpublished poems. The second of them is the volume Poemas a Amanda, which brings together the handwritten versions of all the poems that Carmen Conde dedicated to Amanda Junquera throughout her life, as well as the reproduction of the dedications that both exchanged in books, photographs and other documents.

This edition, which has been published in Ediciones Torremozas and carried out by Fran Garcera and Cari Fernández, constitutes the first volume of a documentary trilogy that will continue with the publication of almost four hundred letters that both writers sent from 1936 to 1978 and with the publication of the only two unpublished plays that both wrote.

In this way, it is intended to publicize the importance that Amanda Junquera had in the life and work of Carmen Conde. A LEGACY OF 30,000 LETTERS On January 8, 1996, Carmen Conde died in a Majadahonda nursing home, but not before bequeathing her personal archive to the Cartagena City Council: 36,000 letters, a personal library of 10,000 volumes, thousands of press clippings and photographs, as well as hundreds of copies of the most important magazines of the 20th century and works of art.

With the intention of organizing, cataloging and preserving this important legacy for the future, the current Carmen Conde-Antonio Oliver de Cartagena Board of Trustees was created. In 2020, the director of Editorial Renacimiento, Cristina Linares, received the 'Sevilla Territorio de Igualdad Award' for her work at the head of Editorial Renacimiento due to the enormous effort in the dissemination and even the rescue of life and literary and essay work of transcendental women for our history and cultural capital in Spanish. Ediciones Torremozas, currently directed by Marta Porpetta, was founded in 1982 by Luzmaría Jiménez Faro, who was the executor of Carmen Conde and a member of the Board of Trustees that manages her legacy.

She specializes in literature written by women and in the rescue of forgotten or little-known authors outside their country.

Annually announces the 'Carmen Conde Prize for poetry written by women'.
