| The action with a budget of more than 560,000 euros is included in the Immediate Action Plan for the Economic Recovery of COVID | The Cartagena Port Authority will improve access to the Isaac Peral and Príncipe Felipe docks, located in the Escombreras dock, which are deteriorated mainly due to the passage of time and the significant number of heavy vehicles that pass through it daily, according to said the president of the APC, Yolanda Muñoz.
"It is necessary to carry out a complete reform of the accesses to both docks to respond to the increase in port activity that is taking place in the Port of Cartagena, especially at the Isaac Peral or Príncipe Felipe docks destined for our main traffic such as they are solid bulks, liquid bulks and LNG, "Muñoz assured.
These works will be complemented by the actions at the Príncipe Felipe pier, as well as the renovation of 37,000 meters of the road surface that we did at the Isaac Peral pier.
The project is in the contracting phase with a budget of € 563,558.33, VAT included and an execution period of 4.5 months.
The works will cover a length of approximately 310 meters and an area of ??more than 5,000 m2 and will involve "improving the geometric design of the road and reordering the access lanes to the docks, which will contribute to greater fluidity and safety in circulation, improving the conditions of port exploitation in the facilities ".
In addition, the president has informed that "the complete renovation of the pavement and the installation of streetlights with LED lighting and solar panels will be carried out in our commitment to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint".
Specifically, nine street lamps with LED luminaires will be placed to light the access, another nine LED luminaires to improve the lighting of the entrance control pergolas and the execution of a network of pipes that will provide service to the network of facilities present and future of the Port Authority.
Finally, the cleaning and improvement of the surface drainage elements, the renewal of vertical and horizontal signage, the improvement of the pedestrian pavement of the entrance control and the installation of a state-of-the-art gauging station powered by solar panels has been planned .
Yolanda Muñoz stressed that "we are immersed in a full renovation of the port facilities to offer better infrastructures that allow increasing new traffic and improving services to companies that already operate in the Port" and recalled that "we have redoubled efforts in the midst of a pandemic to activate the economic recovery and that the economy of Cartagena and the region does not stop ".
The works are included in the Immediate Action Plan for Economic Recovery promoted by the Port Authority, which involves an investment of 200 million euros, divided into 5 blocks, with 12 lines that include 50 actions.
