| The issue was raised this Friday by the Deputy Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, during the celebration of the Inter-Administrative Forum of the Mar Menor | The Cartagena City Council has asked the Ministry of the Environment for the immediate contracting of the works of the Los Urrutias promenade to fulfill its last public commitment to carry out the works throughout this year.
The vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, has raised this demand at the Inter-Administrative Forum of the Mar Menor, meeting this Friday, January 22. Arroyo recalled that last September the imminent contracting of the project was made public "it was reported that it would have an amount of 1.4 million, it was said that it would have an execution period of nine months and that it would be contracted within weeks to be able to finish the work in 2021.
September passed, the year ended and we have started 2021 without being hired and we all know that investments in that area are now more necessary than ever ”. The vice mayor has also shown her concern that the work may have negative effects in the summer.
The secretary general of the Government Delegation, Francisco Giménez, has assured that the tour is a priority for the Ministry, that there will be news about its award shortly and that a work plan will be drawn up to avoid problems in the summer season. Noelia Arroyo has explained to the Forum, which brings together representatives of the central and regional administrations and the riverside municipalities, that the City of Cartagena awaits a legal report on powers in the removal of dried and sludge that it has claimed from the Ministry to be able to address with legal guarantees the jobs the area needs. “The minister said only 14 months ago that the ministry would remove the dry and mud from the Mar Menor.
They are environmentally complex and costly jobs, which is why the ministry must do them, which has more resources and all the skills.
If they give up doing it, we will do it, even if it costs us more time than them and we have to tackle it in phases ”. These decisions will be addressed when the Ministry assesses the report sent by the City Council in which a proposal for action for the removal of dry and sludge is detailed.
The municipal technicians have detailed 16 possible actions in the eight lines of work that should be developed in the four phases of the sludge removal project, from the preliminary project to the surveillance plan once the works are completed.
