| Cartagena Port Authority and UPCT join forces to promote sport and continue to enhance the name of Cartagena in regional and national competitions | Port Authority of Cartagena and Universidad Polit�cnica de Cartagena have joined forces to create a new athletics sports club in the city of Cartagena with the name "UPCT-Puerto de Cartagena", with the aim of promoting the sport of Cartagena within the objectives of Sustainable Development marked by both institutions.

The president of the APC, Yolanda Muà ± oz highlighted that "we wanted to take a leap in our involvement with Cartagena by forming this club together with the UPCT, to contribute to continue positioning the name of Cartagena as a benchmark for regional and national sport in the various competitions and enhance their projection "and said that" sport is part of our commitments to Social Responsibility to improve the lives of Cartagena.

" The club, federated in the athletics and Trail modalities and federations, is made up of university students and workers of the Port Authority, as well as athletes such as Alberto Gonz�lez, Tania Salamanca, Victor Cerezuela, Isabel Pelegr�n and Ariadna Mataix.

At the head as sports directors are Juan Antonio Gat�n and Francisco Jos� Campillo.

The sports project has the backing of the Cartagena City Council and was born under the sporting values ??of respect for Cartagena and the rules of the game; responsibility, willingness to always do the best to defend the image of the UPCT and the APC in the sports and professional field, and honesty for a work framed in the strictest sports rules of the game.

The health situation derived from COVID has prevented the official presentation of the team that has already started its training to be ready for the sports competitions that will take place soon.

Muà ± oz has stressed the importance of "strengthening ties and collaboration with administrations and organizations such as the City Council and the UPCT, to promote the development of initiatives that reinvest in a benefit to the citizens of Cartagena".
