The president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, Mario Urrea accompanied by the Water Commissioner, Javier Garc�a has held a working meeting with the Arco Sur Irrigation Community represented by Salvador Mellinas and the COAG from Campo de Cartagena represented by Vicente Carri�n.
The meeting that is held telematically for health reasons due to COVID, as an example of responsibility to help minimize and avoid possible infections between participants by avoiding travel, following the recommendations of health authorities.
The Community of Irrigators is interested in the processing of the water concession for the Escombreras Desalination Plant since they need to guarantee the necessary resources to maintain its activity.
The president has informed that the Escombreras Plant is all granted, 6 Hm3 for irrigation and 16 Hm3 for supply, and as long as the characteristics and conditions of the concession are not modified, a file that currently It is being processed at the Water Commissary, it is not possible to change the use of the destination of the water, so it is not feasible to increase the concession either to the Arco Sur Irrigation Community or to any other Community or to private farmers who may request it.
During the meeting, which took place in a relaxed and fully collaborative atmosphere, a series of other issues were also addressed, such as the issue of measures agreed by the CHS Governing Board to avoid contamination.
