| The project includes the renewal of the networks of the Cartagena and Escombreras docks | The Cartagena Port Authority is going to put out to tender the project for the renovation of the drinking water supply networks in the Cartagena and Escombreras docks, which will involve "an improvement and modernization of most of the supply networks with the aim of replacing the old fiber cement pipes with others made of more resistant, durable and environmentally more sustainable ductile cast iron ", informed the president Yolanda Muñoz.
With a tender budget of 3,356,522.16 euros and an execution period of 17 months, Muñoz said that "we want to make a qualitative leap in our management model to guarantee a better service with the withdrawal of 5,743 kilometers of very old pipelines and manholes through a new branched-type network that will optimize the supply and adequate pressure both to companies in the port area and to the ships that dock at our docks, expanding the intakes of water for supplying the boats that represent the points of greatest consumption in both docks ".
The project is divided into 10 actions, five in the Cartagena dock and five in the Escombreras dock.
Specifically, in the Cartagena dock, the works will go to the Santa Luc a, San Pedro and Alfonso XII docks and their outdoor areas, and the Cruise Terminal.
In Escombreras, the drinking water networks of the Bastarreche Dam-Wharf, Maese Wharf, Isaac Peral Wharf, Pr ncipe Felipe Wharf and the west and LNG berths will be renewed The drinking water supply network will be executed with ductile cast iron pipe with a diameter of 200 mm, with the exception of specific sections that will be executed with diameters of 125-150 mm.
The network to be arranged will be a branched type, due to the arrangement of the different docks to be served.
The president has indicated that "this work will improve the maintenance and conservation of the supply network, reducing breakdowns and leaks in pipes that have more than 35 years of life" has insisted that " At no time will the works hinder the port activity carried out in both docks, guaranteeing the supply of drinking water during the execution of the works.
" The works are included in the Immediate Action Plan for Economic Recovery promoted by the Port Authority, which involves an investment of 200 million euros, divided into 5 blocks, with 12 lines that contemplate 50 performances.
