Thus, the councilor directed by David Martínez Noguera has launched this project, with the name 'Huellas de Mujer.
Cartagena in feminine 'with which the biographies of these women will be brought closer to the public, among which are the writers Teresa Arr niz and Bosch, Josefina Soria and Aurora Saura, the actress Antera Baus or the teacher and researcher Erna P rez de Puig. For this, the biographies will be made public through the website of the council, in recognition of the work and life of these women and with the aim of making them known. The project is being developed in collaboration with Mar a Escudero, PhD in Sociology, in charge of compiling and reviewing documents, and is open, in turn, to citizen collaboration. In addition, within this initiative, the Cartagena artist Clara Led has recently collaborated with the council in the creation of a mural in tribute to the writer and lady of the Red Cross Mar a Dolores Bas Bonal, who already it can be admired on Calle Cuatro Santos. Bas Bonald, a prominent feminist at the beginning of the 20th century, has thus been immortalized on the street where she lived and died, in the heart of Cartagena.
In addition, the Cartagena City Council recognized the figure of this prominent Cartagena woman by putting her name on a square located on Pintor Portela Avenue, in the San Gin s neighborhood. “There are many women from Cartagena who have stood out and who have been pioneers with their artistic creation, their life or their work, and who have been forgotten in history.
With this project, we pay tribute to them and bring their stories to the people of Cartagena, so that they are not forgotten, ”said David Mart nez Noguera. MAR A DOLORES BAS Cartagenera Mar a Dolores Bas was born in 1905 on Cuatro Santos Street, into a wealthy family.
From a very young age she felt literary concerns and did not settle for the clichés associated with women in her time, so she did not hesitate to train and study: she became a teacher and, later, entered in the health world as a Red Cross nurse lady. He reflected his work, studies, training and other data collected from different professional works in his book 'Vadem dum of the nurse lady and health assistants', a compendium so that the nurses of his time could, in times of urgency, Quickly recall previously acquired knowledge. Another of his most recognized works is 'Legends', published for the first time in 1923, a volume in which historical characters become protagonists of stories about love, mysteries, honor or paranormal events. Mar a Dolores Bas, an active feminist, dedicated the first edition of this book to Carmen de Burgos, representative of Spanish feminism of the time.
A staunch defender of the feminist movement, she defended her ideas in numerous articles in the local and national press, and as a speaker at conferences. He passed away prematurely in 1930, at the age of 25, leaving a short but intense work.
With the mural that Clara Led has signed on Cuatro Santos street, the Cartagena writer and nurse will once again be the protagonist on the same street where she lived.
