Culture is an essential asset for the City of Cartagena, which is going to overturn this 2021 with the creation of new programs and projects aimed at all artistic disciplines. “Since I became a councilor, I have inherited a very active cultural program, and I have also developed new projects with the idea that culture is a place for understanding, to weave citizen networks, to create identity, generate social inclusion, promote the participation of our citizens and help in the transformation of the city.

To have a more developed municipality, it is necessary to bet more and more on culture.

Strengthening it is building the city ”, said Carlos Piñana, delegate councilor for Culture of the Cartagena City Council, in the advancement of the scheduling of projects for 2021 of his council. “We want from the City of Cartagena that the entire cultural sector of the city feels represented by our cultural policy, for this we will continue with established programs and well known by our citizens, to which we will add in 2021 new projects, so that municipal culture is everyone's project ”added Piñana. In the first place, the Cartagena City Council is going to bet this 2021 to create a great "Cultural Network in Neighborhoods and Provinces", with the intention of decentralizing cultural activities, creating, among other activities, a local circuit of music and arts plastic, which will connect all the socio-cultural spaces of the neighborhoods and county councils with local artists. Culture will also create the 1st Cartagena Dance Days and new festivals in the summer months, in collaboration with initiatives that come from the private sector, who know the potential of the city and want to bet on Cartagena , as headquarters.

The Cartagena Culture Medals will also be established, which will reward the city's most outstanding representatives and cultural projects. The City Council will continue to promote its cultural reference brands such as La Mar de M sicas, the FICC and the Cartagena Jazz Festival.

These last two will meet, in 2021, 50 and 40 years respectively.

The Mar de M sicas, which will be held in July, is working on two festival lines, to ensure its celebration, according to the sanitary measures that are established for the last fortnight of July. The gaze will also be directed from the Council of Culture of the City of Cartagena to education and training as a pillar of its programming.

'La Cultura en la Infancia' will be a new program to promote education and childhood as a cultural audience.

In addition, counseling and training for the city's artists will continue at the Artists Office.

They will also continue with the revitalization activities that have been carried out in museums and in the exhibition halls of Cartagena. The Popular University is going to incorporate this year, for the first time, a "Tradition and Popular Culture" program to investigate, catalog and transmit the traditions of the port city and its countryside. It has, in turn, been proposed to be more inclusive and for this it will develop projects that pursue this objective; In addition, it will focus on promoting equality.
