| The Government asks that responsibilities be delimited so as not to lose another year without solutions to the problem | The Cartagena City Council has sent the Ministry of the Environment a report detailing a proposed action for the removal of dry and mud from the southern beaches of the Mar Menor where bathing is difficult.
The municipal government awaits a technical and legal response from the ministry that clearly delimits the responsibilities of the administrations to get out of the current blockade, as indicated by the deputy mayor and head of the municipal commission del Mar Menor, Noelia Arroyo. In the report that is submitted to the study of the Ministry, the municipal technicians have detailed 16 possible actions in the eight lines of work that should be developed in the four phases of the sludge removal project, from the preliminary project, up to the surveillance plan once the work is finished.
The deputy mayor has indicated that “since the Minister said that she was studying how to remove the dry and mud, a year has passed, which has been a lost year.
We are willing to take on the job, but we cannot risk the money from Cartagena to a challenge for paying for a project that is not within our competence.
That is why we need the Ministry to officially pronounce itself through its legal representatives ”. GATEWAYS AND SPA Arroyo recalled that the city council and, more recently, the Autonomous Community, have made significant investments to improve access to the sea and bathing on the beaches affected by the presence of mud.
"The city council used 500,000 euros and the Ministry of the Environment 1.2 million in the footbridges and spas that will facilitate the bathroom, but we still do not solve the underlying problem." The City Council has sent Costas for authorization the new locations proposed by the technicians for the catwalks.
“Construction of the five spas has already begun, which will be completed by Easter and by that date we hope to have authorization from Costas to set up our footbridges in the new locations of Los Nietos, where there will be two, Islas Menores, Playa Para so and the Cavanna beach.
This year we will have a total of 10 structures to improve accessibility and add to the attractions in the Mar Menor ”. To choose the new locations, bionomic studies have been carried out, to characterize sands, locate sludge and locate algae, in addition to bathymetric studies in more than 1,000 sampling points. BIOMASS CLEANING AND COLLECTION MACHINES The vice mayor has said that efforts to improve the state of the beaches will continue with the purchase of more cleaning machinery and the hiring of a new biomass collection service to reinforce the algae cleaning work that carried out by the Autonomous Community and try to avoid the appearance of more areas with sludge function { ;(, , {});}
