| The mayor has announced the next creation of a park next to the new infrastructure, which will be the most s great of Cartagena | The new Avenida del Cantón is now open to traffic.

From today it will become one of the main arteries that will connect the city with the western part of the municipality of Cartagena.

On the morning of today, December 23, a local government delegation led by Mayor Ana Bel n Castej n, toured the new infrastructure. "Today is a day as important as expected because we have had to wait more than 30 years to be able to inaugurate and open the Avenida del Canton to the public.

More than 30 years in which our municipality has undergone numerous changes, but all with our backs to a development area as important to our city as this one ”, stated the first mayor. The opening of the new road was also attended by the Deputy Mayor Noelia Arroyo, the Deputy Mayor Manuel Pad n, the President of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, the promoter of the work and head of Cartagena Parque, Tom s Olivo , the former mayor Antonio Vallejo, the president of the COEC, Ana Correa, and the president of FC Cartagena, Francisco Belmonte, among others. The mayor has taken the opportunity to announce the next creation, next to the new avenue, of what will be the largest park in the entire municipal area, since it will have an area of ??340,000 square meters and will be connected to the city by various bridges, which will become a regional benchmark.

“For this reason, this morning we not only opened a large avenue, we opened a window to the present and the future through which we can see the largest park in the municipal district of Cartagena, important not only for its size but also because it will be a sustainable, adapted park, which will collect the waters of torrential rains and transform them into a useful asset ”, he reported. Along with the creation of this great park, a series of actions are planned aimed at betting on urban mobility, so desired by Cartagena, and that will connect the city and El Ensanche with the Tentegorra Park.

It should be remembered that, with the urbanization projects of polygons 1, 2 and 3, the sidewalks, bike lanes, gardening work, as well as streets and public services will be completed.

. As Castej n has explained, “it is about opening a window to urban mobility, being projected in each of the polygons, their sidewalks and their bike lanes that will be connected both with the Avenida del Cant n as with the large park that will begin to be built immediately.

Making this project a leisure and enjoyment area for cyclists and neighbors ”. During the tour, the mayor also advanced that “today a new urbanization is in sight, modern and just 5 minutes from the city center, which will begin to be built very soon and which will become a catalyst for the development of our city.

In short, today we inaugurate a great work that allows us to look to the future with optimism, in the hardest and most terrible year that we have had to live.

And, despite everything, it has been possible to carry out this great project with the difficulties inherent to any urban development, to which have been added those of the terrible pandemic, but which we have faced with great doses of determination, effort and capacity for work, and, above all, with the greatest enthusiasm ”. For his part, the developer explained that "within a maximum period of 3 months we will request the license to start building the first building and, from there, we will continue to build the urbanization in which there will be nearby of 1,800 homes ”. Ana Bel n Castej n thanked Antonio Vallejo, who was mayor of the city 30 years ago, "because you laid the foundations for a project that today allows us to dream of a better future." He has also thanked the residents of the Barrio de la Concepci n for their suggestions to the project, since "your desire for consensus and dialogue has allowed us to find the best solutions."
