The mayor, Ana Bel n Castej n, has inaugurated this Saturday, December 19, the sports facility, headquarters of the La Soledad football school, after the renovation works that have allowed the installation n of artificial grass on the football field 11. The works have responded to the municipal commitment with the residents of the county to improve this facility, which still had a dirt field and now has an artificial turf. “It was something highly anticipated by all the residents of Molinos Marfagones, but especially by you, the La Soledad football school, that you are the ones who still have to play on a dirt pitch and that, I'm sure, You will get a lot out of this new playing field ”, said the mayor. The event, in which the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and members of the club's board and the neighborhood council were also present, began with a minute of silence in memory of Paco Acosta, veteran technician of the f Base football of Cartagena, which has died due to Covid. The field is named after Jos Samper, who was president of the club for 25 years.
Samper, who has been at the inauguration accompanied by his family, has been excited and thanked the City Council for their work to make this dream come true. The field project was put out to tender for the amount of 324,239.65 euros and, finally, it was awarded to the company Continental Obras y Mantenimiento SL for 260,656.25 euros. The works began last June, after the confinement decreed in spring to contain the pandemic, and are included in the Financially Sustainable Works plan charged to the 2018 surplus. "I gave you my word that you will have artificial grass, and it is already a reality", has valued Ana Bel n Castej n. The Cartagena City Council has remodeled eight football fields in the last three years, among which are Barrio Peral, Virgen de la Caridad, La Aljorra, Pozo Estrecho or El Boh o, the latter, inaugurated just a few days ago.
In addition, the project to rehabilitate the Los Belones soccer field is planned soon. Likewise, it is worth highlighting the contribution of the City Council to the execution of the works of the Cartagonova Stadium with a subsidy.
