| It is the definitive step to promote a vital infrastructure for the economic and logistical development of Cartagena and the Region | The Port Authority of Cartagena has sent to SEPES the proposal for the purchase of land for the future Zone of Logistics Activities (ZAL) of Cartagena, in advance of the meeting forecast that the two organizations will hold in Madrid in the month of January 2021.

The president of the APC, Yolanda Muñoz, has said that "it is the definitive step for the acquisition of more than 276,000 square meters in the north of the Los Camachos industrial estate and to be able to execute the first phase of the ZAL with the installation of the Free Warehouse, the Integral Transportation Center and promoting logistics land to improve the efficiency and quality of services that we offer from the Port.

" To do this, the APC proposes to buy from SEPES the land located in block 7 of the Los Camachos Polígono according to the price approved at the last Board of Directors of said body.

Muñoz has indicated that "we are convinced of the will of SEPES to reach an agreement that allows to unblock this project and promote a vital infrastructure for the economic and logistical development of the municipality of Cartagena and the Region of Murcia." It should be remembered that the Port Authority has already sent the State Ports the profitability study for the acquisition of the lands of the ZAL of Cartagena, as a previous step to the acquisition of the lands.

"We have the support of businessmen, the local, regional and national government.

We have the approval of Puertos del Estado because it will represent a commitment from the Port of Cartagena for the implementation of activities and value-added products related to the Maritime Traffic ".

The Port Authority has reserved 3.5 million euros, with a specific item in its Business Plan and in the General State Budgets for the year 2021, to turn the ZAL into a first-level logistics node in the Region, with a national strategic character based on the development of the Port of Cartagena and the integration of the transport system in the European internal market.

The Government of the Region of Murcia has declared the ZAL as an Action of Regional Interest (AIR), a strategic project for Cartagena and the Region, which also includes the implementation of the Intermodal Terminal, its rail connection with the general network and the road connection, through two new accesses.
