The student of the Master in Science and Technology of Water and Land, of the School of Roads and Mines of the UPCT, Manel M s Monsonis, has achieved the second award of the XX Edition of the Francisco International Prize Coello in the field of Geomatic Engineering. The award, given by the University of Ja n, is a recognition of his Master's Final Project 'Dynamic definition of land uses on a monthly scale through satellite images.
First steps for the characterization and modeling of the transfer of nitrates to the subsurface flow in soils with intensive agriculture in Campo de Cartagena ', led by professors Manuel Alcaraz and Juan Garc a Bermejo. In the work, the student combines Remote Sensing, GIS and hydrological models in order to identify environmental problems in the field of Cartagena, acting as a support system for spatial decision. The student has assured to be satisfied when receiving the recognition and has appreciated the support received from his tutors and the school.
In the same way, he has pointed out the usefulness of the techniques applied at work, which can help a sensitive area, such as the Campo de Cartagena environment, to which economic progress is made in line with the care environmental.
