| The device has the participation of Cáritas, the Food Bank, El Buen Samaritano, SENA and the Red Cross and will install food delivery points and basic necessities in the shops of the municipality | With the slogan 'Join the most solidary Christmas', the mayor Ana Belén Castejón presented this morning, Wednesday December 9, the food collection campaign that the Cartagena City Council has promoted together with the Cáritas social entities, the Bank of Food, The Good Samaritan, the Cartagena Association of Solidarity in Action (Sena) and the Red Cross.In the presentation, in addition to those responsible for each of the participating entities, there were also the vice mayor and mayor of Social Services, Noelia Arroyo, and the delegate councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García Gómez.The first mayor recalled that "the health situation that we are suffering since March has generated a severe economic crisis that causes many families to have drastically reduced their income and the means they have to survive.
The role that administrations must have to try to reverse this situation is indisputable, but we need everyone's help to reach those who need us ”.In order to put this campaign into operation, the City Council has requested the collaboration of numerous shops and large areas of the municipality of Cartagena, in which from December 11 to 13, points will be installed where citizens can deliver both food and first-rate items necessity, cleaning and basic sanitary products."I want to thank all the social entities that have joined us in this new campaign in a totally disinterested way and, of course, the supermarkets that will allow us to place the collection points in their establishments, since without their help, given the complex health situation we are experiencing, this campaign would have been impossible ”, concluded the mayor.
