| The UIMP will continue teaching classes to more than 1,000 students from all over the world | The Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) will maintain its headquarters in Cartagena thanks to the determined action of the Councilor for Citizens, Miguel Motas.
Since the announcement of the closure of the UIMP by the Ministry of Universities was known, the Minister of Employment, Research and Universities of the Region of Murcia made himself available to the institution and sent a letter to the Minister, Manuel Castells, to request to cease its intention to leave this autonomous community without a university institution headquarters.Motas highlights the importance that the UIMP has in the port city, "more than 1,000 students from all over the world study at this university, something that brings a cultural exchange and international projection to Cartagena." The Councilor for Citizens has also valued the economic impact of the institution.The regional coordinator of Citizens, Ana Martínez Vidal, has highlighted the decisive commitment of the orange formation to avoid closure, "we have demonstrated its solvency and that Cartagena is an ideal place for the UIMP".
