The Cartagena publisher MALBEC EDICIONES is in luck.
Five years have passed since the launch of his first novel: 'El legado del mal' by Carlos Dosel, celebrating its fifth anniversary this December.
Since its inception it has published about 90 titles, consolidating itself as one of the leading publishers in the southeast of Spain. In an event organized this morning, Thursday, December 3, in the Pepe Hierro room of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, the director of the publishing house Javier Salinas, has presented David Martínez Noguera, councilor for the Culture area of ??the Cartagena City Council, his latest literary news and the mayor took the opportunity to "congratulate the publisher on its anniversary in a world as rewarding but difficult as the publisher." Martínez Noguera has also highlighted that "the Cartagena publishing house, in addition to producing books with diverse themes, makes a great effort to promote local talent, betting in a decided way on Cartagena's writers, and for that reason it launched its Cartagena Collection that to date it has had the participation of two official city chroniclers: Luis Miguel Pérez Adán and Francisco Franco Fernández ".At the event, the director of the publishing house Javier Salinas pointed out that the publishing house "is the most fruitful in the Region of Murcia" adding that "we have invested more than 120,000 euros in literary culture, in addition to novels we have specialized in the publication of Not in vain, we have managed to get two of our works to be finalists in the prestigious Setenil Prize 'Let the city end suddenly' by Trifón Abad and 'Arteratura' by Fernando Martínez."Given the current situation of Culture in this country and its low profitability (especially the literary sector), in recent months we have made a commitment to consolidate MALBEC in the e-book segment," said Salinas in the presentation.
To date, the publisher has placed two titles on the Kindle Amazon Spain best-selling and read list: 'El legado del mal' by Carlos Dosel and 'Cameron' by Cristóbal Terrer. The editor of MALBEC, Javier Salinas, has indicated that, despite the circumstances, “we will continue working so that we can tell about it in another five years; We will continue to support and promote regional and national literary talent as before, and we will try to improve every day to offer more and better titles to our readers, as we have done in this particular 2020, a difficult year for everyone, but during which we have worked with the same intensity and same production rhythm ”.Finally, the councilor for the Culture area of ??the Cartagena City Council wanted to encourage readers to consume and give away books from the MALBEC publishing house at Christmas, "since a book is always the best Christmas gift."
