monkey | The Cartagena City Council, through the Department of Commerce, led by Manuel Pad n, has outlined a project of actions aimed at boosting commerce in the municipality with the aim of opting for the subsidy n summoned by the General Directorate of Commerce of the Company Council.
It is a question of aid destined to all the municipalities of the Region and that will suppose a subsidy of 75,000 euros for Cartagena. The aid decree was published last Monday and the deadline to present the projects ends next Saturday.
Due to this haste, the deputy mayor and councilor of the area explained this Wednesday, December 3, to the work committees of the Council of Commerce, Dynamization and Static and Events, the details of the aid and the actions included in the municipal petition. Thus, projects aimed at promoting the trade are collected through an advertising campaign and the preparation of promotional material that will be delivered throughout the year.
Two outlet fairs have also been planned for the city's trade.
The first of them will take place in the first months of the year, in the establishments themselves, with animation that encourages purchases; and the second in October, with the traditional installation of booths in the port. In the same way, a specific campaign has been included to promote the Santa Florentina Market, to be developed in two phases, and the Christmas activities in 2021.
Specific proposals have also been collected from the municipality's merchant associations, sent to the Council before the end of the year as agreed by the Commerce Council. According to the councilor, "all the activities have been prepared taking into account the health provisions due to the pandemic." Therefore, "in case any of them should be postponed or canceled, that money can be used to promote the sector in another way and the aid will not be lost," he insisted. "It is a question of aid that will allow to substantially increase the budget destined to boost commerce, since it will be added to the municipal forecast," the mayor specified. The members of both commissions have given their approval to the municipal project, which will follow the pertinent process to present it before Saturday to the regional Administration.
As a preliminary step, this Friday the Governing Board will approve the project. SOMBRA PLAN AND NEW KIOSK ORDINANCE At the meeting, the deputy mayor has also informed the commissions of the Council of Commerce of the progress in other projects initiated by the Council.
Thus, on the one hand, the mayor has indicated that contacts have been initiated with a company for the development of the Shadow Plan through patronage, as agreed by the Council.
Similarly, it is in contact with another company for the installation of public toilets. On the other hand, Manuel Pad n has advanced that the new kiosk ordinance, drawn up by the Council of Heritage, is in process and that its exposition will be taken to the Governing Board in the near future.

The objective is to regulate the use of this type of facilities and that they serve to stimulate tourism and commerce with activities that improve both sectors.
