The Consumer Affairs Office gets Cartagena residents to recover more than 130,000 complaints filed (02/12/2020)

| The service adapts its hours and customer service to health measures | The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Consumer Area, Manuel Padín, visited the Municipal Consumer Information Office this week, which has adapted its schedule and customer service to the health measures in force.

The office, located in Ronda Ciudad de La Unión, attends in person from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m.

to 2:00 p.m.

for the processing of inquiries and claims on consumer issues, while on Fridays it is attended by telephone.

Appointments must be processed through the following link.The Office has updated the data for inquiries and complaints registered from January to October.

Thus, in this period of time, a total of 2,228 inquiries and 21 complaints have been handled.

Likewise, 1,177 claim files have been processed, of which 718 have completed the processing, with 279 files being resolved favorably for consumers, with a total economic report of 130,969 euros.

In addition, 117 cases resolved have not been favorable to the consumer.Compared to the same period in the last two years, the figures are similar.

However, since the Covid-19, the number of complaints has increased in reference to issues related to travel, airline tickets and travel agencies.

Even so, the issues with the most claims are still those related to mobile phone companies, followed by claims about the acquisition of electronic devices as well as household appliances and insurance.Regarding the object of the claim files, most are due to incorrect billing, irregularities in the provision of the contracted services, breach of contract, breach of the guarantees of sale or repair, defective products, collection of bank commissions, lack of information or incorrect information.This service, which is provided to the citizen by the Cartagena City Council through the Government Area of ??Tourism, Commerce, Health and Consumption, is also reinforced with the Association of Consumers and Housewives of Cartagena who provide an information service to the consumer in the Neighborhood Association of Los Dolores and a provision of free legal advice also by this Association previously agreed with the City Council.
