Artificial intelligence, Big Data, robotics ...
These are some of the subjects of the official master's degree in Industry 4.0 at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
Classes begin today at the School of Industrial Engineering. The UPCT is one of the few Spanish universities that officially imparts a specialized degree in the digital transformation of Industry.
15 students have enrolled in this course.
Some of them, from outside the Region of Murcia.
Most are graduates in Industrial Engineering, Telecommunications, and Computer Science. The coordinator of the master, Antonio Guerrero, professor in the area of ??Systems and Automation Engineering, explains that students from other areas of Spain will be able to follow the sessions live, although “presence is recommended since this is where we have the tools that are available.
they will use and by direct contact with the teachers ”. The master is oriented to "the profession" and to the new professional profiles that the industry demands today.
Guerrero ensures that in the one-year courses of the master's degree, students will learn about the management of the tools currently used by the sector.
In addition, it indicates that much more will be learned than IoT and Big Data because "Industry 4.0 is much more than that." Students will handle tools related to autonomous robotics, augmented reality, process simulation, additive manufacturing, Big Data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, vertical and horizontal integration, internet of things and business model in industry 4.0, among others. Process control equipment, smart industrial plant simulators, IoT (Internet of things) programming devices and additive manufacturing 3D printers are also part of the instruments that the master's students will use and with which the School of Industrialists of the UPCT to train its students in the technologies that improve competitiveness and efficiency in companies. From Randstad Research they assure that "55% of Spanish companies are finding difficulties in finding the profiles they are looking for" in the field of Industry 4.0.
And it is that at present, the labor market requires increasingly qualified professionals who are capable of tackling the digital transformation. The students of the new master's degree will also be able to benefit from the numerous collaboration agreements that the UPCT has to carry out internships in companies and from the extra opportunities offered by the companies that make up the Network of Chairs through scholarships for R + D + activities i and awards for the best end of studies projects. The inauguration is this afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., in the Infomaster Classroom of the School of Industrialists, located on the ground floor.
