| President Yolanda Muñoz has participated in the round table "New challenges for the technological impulse", within the I Virtual Conference of the Telecommunications of the Region of Murcia | The Port Authority of Cartagena has participated in the 1st Virtual Conference on Telecommunications in the Region of Murcia, where it has exposed the digital transformation that the Port of Cartagena is developing to continue being one of the main economic engines of the Region of Murcia. In the round table with the title "New challenges for the technological impulse", the president of the APC, Yolanda Muñoz, highlighted that "we want to be the best Smart Port and promote regional growth, betting on the business fabric of the Region" , where the rector of the UPCT, Beatriz Miguel; the director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez; the Sales Manager for the Lift Area at HUAWEI, Sergio García; and the director of Public Administration Levante at INDRA, Ignacio Martos. Muñoz explained that the digital transformation that is being addressed by the entire port community where the Port Authority is included, but also operators, clients, consignees, moorings, tugboats, companies, carriers, public bodies, State Security Forces, among others.
"We are betting on the only platform where we all interact to make the management of port operations, such as security and mobility, more effective and more efficient and sustainable." Currently, work is being done on the implementation of Electronic Administration (Harmonía), a service integration platform (Dido Port), a corporate data warehouse (Carmenta), a traceability pilot for the transport of live animals with blockchain technology (Tinglado ), as well as the implementation of an IT infrastructure management service, customer service and microinformatics (Surus).
These will be followed by the improvement of the operational processes of the port police (Victoria Project) or the expansion of existing services available to the port community (Cornelia Project). All the members of the table have relapsed into this digital transformation that becomes more evident in the current crisis situation.
"For us it has been a priority, but also an obligation to improve the competitiveness of the port and enhance the productivity of the port community, taking into account the innovation and talent that exists in the Region of Murcia." To do this, Yolanda Muñoz recalled that "we have encouraged companies, organizations and institutions that are part of the port and technology sector of the Region to join the Ports 4.0 initiative.
In total, 30 projects have been presented, endorsed by the Port Authority, because we are convinced that incentivizing the creation or consolidation of a network of emerging companies (STARTUPS) or new lines of business in existing companies (SPIN-OFF) will make us a bigger Port ".
