In accordance with the Framework Protocol for Municipal Action in environmental episodes of pollution, this Thursday, November 26, Level 2 (Corrective) was registered for particles at the La Aljorra measurement station, and Level 3 (Alert) at the stations of measure of Alums, Mompeán and Valle de Escombreras, due to the presence of particles in, as reported to the Cartagena City Council by the General Directorate of the Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.Apparently, yesterday's daily average in the stations mentioned exceeded the value 50 µg / m3 (micrograms per cubic meter), being 112 µg / m3 in the Escombreras Valley, 103 µg / m3 in Alums and 105 µg / m3 in Mompeán, which implies Alert Level 3, and 91 µg / m3 in La Aljorra, where Corrective Level 2 has been established.This episode coincides with the arrival on Thursday of air masses of African origin over the Iberian Peninsula, which will remain throughout Friday, November 27.Citizen collaboration with Alert Level 3The activation of the Alert Level entails the application of a series of measures aimed at citizens to request the collaboration of the population to reduce pollution rates, such as the following:-The lowering of the temperature of the heating or air conditioning of houses and public buildings in order to minimize energy consumption.-The shared use of the private car.-Increase the use of public transport when traveling.-Make efficient driving.-Avoid sudden stops and starts as far as possibleIn addition, as a preventive measure, it is recommended not to do intense physical exercise outdoors.For its part, the Local Police will collaborate by increasing surveillance and control over the following aspects:-Minimize obstructions in the traffic lanes, in order to increase the flow of traffic, reducing obstructions in the lanes due to the incorrect parking of vehicles or due to construction work.-Restrictions on traffic to the historic center between 8:30 a.m.
and 1:30 p.m., except for essential services vehicles, bicycles, for garbage collection, etc.
Delivery vehicles and loading and unloading vehicles will be able to access between 8:30 and 11.-Monitoring and control measures will be taken to comply with the maximum speeds allowed.Other measures:-Blowers will not be used by the street cleaning services.-In those points of the public thoroughfare where accumulations of dust or sediments are detected, they will be cleaned by washing the road surface.-Restrictions in works and demolitions.
Operations are suspended at the works that generate pollutants and total suspension of demolition.-It is remembered that agricultural burning is prohibited.-It is recommended to limit agricultural tasks that pose a risk due to dust emission.-The competent bodies will be recommended to suspend or limit the loading and unloading operations that may cause emissions of dusty particles.
