 The LGTBI Association "GALACTYCO Collective" has called for next Tuesday, December 1, at 6:30 p.m., a rally-protest at the door of the Regional Assembly in Cartagena.Coinciding with the celebration of World AIDS Day, the Cartagena association intends to protest against the closure of the unit for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV in the Plaza San Agustín in Cartagena.The service, which had been provided in Cartagena for more than thirty years, has closed its doors after several months of reduced benefits.Various social organizations and political parties have joined the call for this concentration, such as the Asociacion HIVsibles, Unidas Podemos Izquierda Unidad Equo, Movimiento Ciudadano, PSOE CT, STERM Intersindical, CCOO, Historical Memory of Cartagena, Federation of Associations of Neighbors of Cartagena and Comarca, Yayo flautas Cartagena, among others.If last year, for the first time a red ribbon was placed on the facade of the Regional Parliament building, this time, it will also be illuminated in red, the color of AIDS Day, a proposal from GALACTYCO to the presidency of the Assembly.For the president of GALACTYCO, Alberto Alba, December 1 should be a day of remembrance for all the people who died from AIDS and all those living with HIV, but we must not be fooled by symbolic remembrance actions while they are being eliminated services as essential as that of the Unit for the Prevention, Treatment and Diagnosis of STIs and HIV in Cartagena.For his part, the communication member of the Cartagena association, José María García, recalls that the service in question has worked perfectly for decades in Cartagena, being a unit of regional reference and from GALACTYCO we will continue fighting until its reopening is a reality .

García affirms that they have requested a meeting with the Director of Public Health of Cartagena and that they are awaiting his response.

After the concentration on day one, we will organize the protests in the Ministry of Health, on which this service depends.
