The University of Valencia and the Jaume I of Castellón are also distributing the glasses to use the VR Cinema Experience UPCT application within the framework of the activities for the Mediterranean Night of the Researchers (Mednight)The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC + i) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has distributed 150 glasses this morning for viewing videos in 360 format and stereoscopic 3D vision in the public institutes of Cartagena that teach Research Baccalaureate and who collaborate in the activities scheduled this week for the Mediterranean Night of the Researchers (Mednight).The vice-rector for Teaching Staff and Institutional Promotion, Luis Javier Lozano, and the Outreach coordinator, José Luis Serrano, have participated in the delivery of the glasses to students participating in the SIMIP congress (acrostic of the IES San Isidoro, Mediterráneo and Isaac Peral ) and that they will publicize their research projects during Mednight.Disseminate science, contribute to the promotion of technological vocations and raise awareness against gender violence is the objective of this initiative, associated with the development by the researchers of the School of Telecommunications of the UPCT Paqui Rosique and Marta Martínez of the app 'VR Cinema Experience UPCT ', in which they have posted a collection of immersive virtual reality videos to view on the mobile through glasses like the ones distributed today.
The University of Valencia and the Jaume I of Castellón are also distributing the glasses to use this app within the framework of the activities by Mednight, which are jointly organized by universities in the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community.The videos that can already be seen in the application are related to scientific topics, such as the exploration of the Universe, with the dissemination of the role of researchers and with the prevention of gender violence, whose international day is celebrated tomorrow.
For the viewing of awareness-raising short films, the UPCT Equality Unit and the UCC + i are also today distributing 360 vision glasses on the different Polytechnic campuses.The UPCT participates in the 'Mednight' through its Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC + i) with the support of the FECYT, the European University of Technology (EUt +), the Murcia Regional Assembly and the Cajamurcia Foundation .The 'Mednight' was born as a result of the collaboration of a consortium formed by the University of Murcia, Polytechnic University of Cartagena, University of Alicante, Miguel Hernández de Elche University, University of Valencia, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Jaume I University, Fisabio Foundation , Seneca Foundation - Murcia Region Science and Technology Agency, INCLIVA and the Higher Council for Scientific Research, under the coordination of the Kaleidoscope and with the sponsorship of the Generalitat Valenciana through the Foundation of the Valencian Community for the Promotion of Higher Studies (FFES).The project 'Mediterranean Night of Researchers' is an event associated with the initiative 'European Night of Researchers' of the European Union, funded by Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions, with call identifier: H2020-MSCA-NIGHT-2020.The app 'VR Cinema Experience UPCT' has been made with funding from the University of Valencia and the Fundació Foment Estudis Superiors of the Conselleria de Conselleria de Innovación, Universidades, Ciencia y Sociedad Digital de la Comunitat Valenciana and with the help of the General Directorate of Women and Gender Diversity of the CARM.
