| Social Services and Civil Protection will have the help of public employees from Sports, Youth and Culture | The Cartagena City Council is reinforcing the Social and Civil Protection Services for COVID tasks, with the incorporation of officials from municipal services, who have temporarily closed or reduced their workload as a result of health measures.The reallocation of troops was contemplated in the decree signed last week by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, in order to make schedules and templates more flexible as a measure of protection of personnel against the worsening of the pandemic.The staff that will be assigned to these tasks on a temporary basis comes mostly from the Department of Sports, but also from the Department of Youth and Culture.

"It is about 30 workers who have already shown their agreement to help colleagues who are currently suffering from an overload of work in social support and prevention against COVID," as explained by the deputy mayor and head of the Department of Social Attention, Noelia Arroyo.The mayor has met with the councilors and those responsible for the Personnel and Security areas to establish the priority of the personnel needs.

The three main functions to which the employees will be incorporated are: civil protection, administrative and care tasks in the Department of Social Services, and support and accompaniment work for people from the most vulnerable groups.“The entire municipal staff is aware of the difficult moments that Cartagena is going through and everyone is willing to help out wherever it is most needed.

The Government appreciates this provision and we are all working so that the civil servants displaced from other councils can be as useful as possible to their colleagues and to all the people of Cartagena, ”stated the deputy mayor.Temporary assignments, in which the Personnel area already works, are carried out giving priority to the preferences of the officials and their professional profiles, maintaining their working conditions and respecting the self-protection measures established for the staff by the Occupational Hazards service.
