| The City Council has already put out to tender the acquisition of the necessary materials and, through two ADLE programs, the gardening work will be carried out and masonry | The Huerto de Cándido and Ana María will have an amount of 181,200 euros for its rehabilitation.

The Cartagena City Council has already put out to tender the acquisition of the necessary materials for its execution for a value of 75,000 euros, which includes lighting for an amount of 12,500 euros; masonry materials and enclosures for 50,000 euros and urban furniture and pergolas for 12,500 euros.El Huerto de Cándido is located on a plot of 3,755 square meters that has been a protagonist in the history of this rural area for the last 65 years and that has more than 223 different species, grouped into 60 plant families, among which stand out the Cactus.

This property was ceded to the Cartagena City Council as the last wish of Cándido García Molera, with the condition that this plot be converted into a green space.The councilor and president of the ADLE, Irene Ruiz, recalled that this action has the double objective of “fulfilling, both with the commitment acquired with the residents of La Palma to value the Huerto de Cándido and with the adaptation plan to the Climate Change approved last March in the Governing Board ”.On the other hand, the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE) has submitted to a mixed training and employment program of the SEF that has been granted and that will allow to have 102,268 euros to start a workshop school that will carry out the gardening work in the Huerto Cándido."This program will begin in February 2021 and will last 9 months in which 10 gardening students will take charge of recovering this spectacular garden on La Palma", said the mayor, who also pointed out that "to this program of training, 42 files were submitted from municipalities throughout the Region and Cartagena was one of the 9 chosen, with the third highest grade ”.Also through the ADLE, on this occasion of the neighborhood program, the masonry tasks of the plot will be carried out, for which 3,932 euros have been allocated.

“The masonry students of the Barrios ADLE program will be in charge of demolishing a house in ruins that is inside the Huerto de Cándido.

The idea is that this is done as soon as the material that has been acquired reaches us so that it is finished before the end of the year ”, said Ruiz.
