The Cartagena Charity Association has been present in the Venezuelan Guajira, supporting the social care project that the "Escribiendo Sonrisas" Foundation is taking to this indigenous people. In this way, one of the poorest communities of the Wayuú people, "El Arroyo", has benefited from the campaign undertaken, where a vaccination has been carried out on the most vulnerable population (Polio, Toxoid, Hepatitis B, Anti-flu , Trivalente, Pentavalente, and Yellow Fever), have enjoyed a community lunch and received Grooming Kits. The participation of "Cartagena for Charity" is framed within the humanitarian aid programs that this apostolic initiative has been taking to Peru for two years, and this time to Venezuela. The Wayuú people are an indigenous community of Arahuaco origin, which has lived in the ancestral territory of La Guajira for millennia. Despite being the largest indigenous population in the South American country, this community suffers many violations of its social and cultural rights.

With the intensification of the socioeconomic crisis in Venezuela, poverty increased categorically, being mainly affected; Indigenous. The Guajira municipality is located in the North of Zulia State, Venezuela, the Wayuú indigenous people share their territory binationally between Colombia and Venezuela. The entity has a little more than 200 small primary schools, where the majority have infrastructures in a dilapidated condition, little educational material such as: desks, blackboards, books, among others.

But above all, there is a large dropout rate due to the socioeconomic context. The "Escribiendo Sonrisas" Foundation, which dedicates social care to the Venezuelan Guajira, is chaired by the young writers Reinaldo De Fernandez and Isamar Baptista, which promotes education and values ??in La Guajira, in addition to serving the needs of the most vulnerable families in this Venezuelan enclave. Since its foundation, they have carried out campaigns to support the little ones, with the donation of used clothes, medicines, basic food, hygiene products and personal hygiene ..., with which they manage to serve this nucleus of disadvantaged population, managing to "write smiles "mainly on the faces of the little ones ..
