| The Ministry of Development has approved the exceptional use, as public teaching equipment, of plot 615 of polygon 8 in Cartagena for the construction of a new school in La Aljorra | The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the Deputy Mayor, Noelia Arroyo and the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Esperanza Moreno and the General Director of Educational Centers and Infrastructures, Verónica López, have maintained this morning a meeting with the representatives of the La Aljorra School Platform, María Luisa Carrión and Angie González García, and the president of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Conesa, to inform them that the construction of the La Aljorra school already has a green light, once that the Ministry of Public Works has admitted the exceptional use of the plot, for reasons of general interest, as public teaching facilities.“This is a definitive step that allows us to continue advancing in the administrative procedures for the start of construction works.
It was our priority to unblock this project and put it into operation and it is already a fact, ”said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.For its part, the award process of the urbanization project for the accesses to the new center is scheduled to end at the end of this year, which would allow these works to start at the beginning of 2021.
The Department of Education already has a reserved item 345,000 euros for this purpose.The Minister of Education, Esperanza Moreno, has indicated that “they have been very complicated months.
The City Council has done an enormous job, but it was our commitment and we are fulfilling it.
In Cartagena, La Aljorra is our educational priority.
We have already commissioned the drafting of the school construction project, which will be ready in three months.
Our forecast is to see the first stone in 2021 ”.The construction works and those of urbanization of the surroundings will be executed simultaneously.
"We are not going to act as watertight departments, but coordinated, so that all the works go in unison and the neighbors can enjoy this school as soon as possible," said Ana Belén Castejón.For her part, the spokesperson for the Aljorra School Platform, Luisa Carrión, recalled that the construction of the school is an old claim.
