We are experiencing many difficulties, but we cannot allow discouragement to dominate us.

For this reason we are here today, inaugurating the Plaza de las Peñas, because we have to enjoy the positive events and everything that is good for our municipality.

Allow me to highlight something that is fundamental for us and that is the fact that these works have allowed the square to be an accessible space for everyone ”, said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.The remodeling of the Plaza de las Peñas has been carried out under Participatory Budgets.“Now it's time to enjoy this space, yes, safely: with a mask, keeping your distance and with correct hand hygiene whenever any common element is touched, such as benches or children's games.

It depends on everyone that it be a safe space for everyone ”, said Castejón.The mayor recalled that in the last year the fiber cement of the Santa Florentina school in La Palma has been removed, with an investment of 48,000 euros, and the horizontal traffic signs of the town have been repainted."Last week we also started cleaning and pruning in Huerto Cándido, which is just the beginning of the project we have for this space," said Castejón.In this sense, a Technical Commission with neighborhood and municipal representatives has been created to guarantee the good condition of these facilities and their use as community equipment, and, through the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE), a request has been made European grant from the SEF to carry out a project valued at 409,000 euros, of which the City Council would put 30% of the budget, 75,000 euros from the Infrastructure area and 25,000 euros from the ADLE, for the recovery of this space.
