The Cartagena City Council has contracted to carry out an inventory and cataloging of the mural work, stained glass windows and decorative elements of both authors.
“The mural work of these Cartagena artists, made between the years 1950 and 1980, represents a unique time in our city within the Spanish painting of the 20th century.
These are unrepeatable works and of great value, so we could not allow it to continue without being cataloged ”, pointed out the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.In this way, the works consist of the creation of an inventory and cataloging of the mural work, stained glass windows and decorative elements of both authors that still remain in Cartagena, both in buildings and in public spaces, in order to be able to conserve, study and put them in value.
"This document will be essential to promote the proper conservation of this extensive artistic work," said the mayor.The cataloging work will be carried out by the painter Enrique Vicente Navarro Carretero, a specialist in the work of these authors and son of Enrique Gabriel Navarro.Specifically, about 90 pieces will be studied, which will be identified with a catalog card in which both their technical characteristics such as location, year of the work, dimensions, state of conservation and other data such as the existence of a sketch, documentation will be reflected.
