The general director of Tourist Competitiveness and Quality, Esther Tenza, participated today, together with the general director of the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, Fernando Fraile, in the ceremony of delivery of nine 'Safe Tourism Certified' certificates granted to public spaces, museums and patrimonial places of Cartagena.
The municipality of Cartagena, with 11 certifications, is positioned as the second in the Region with the most distinctions, after San Javier, with 15, and ahead of San Pedro del Pinatar, with 8. Tenza explained that the Region of Murcia already has 58 'Safe Tourism Certified' tourist certificates, which "are the best guarantee that we are a Safe destination, and this seal is a tool that will help to gradually regain the confidence of tourists." "These badges ratify the solvency and commitment of the regional government with the quality and security that we offer both the inhabitants and those who visit the region," he said. The Region has obtained 58 'Safe Tourism Certified' seals in all its segments: 26 Tourism Offices, two Information points, one at the Murcia Region International Airport and another in Los Narejos; the maritime transport company 'ByF Ferrys', which transshipments from Santiago de la Ribera to La Manga; and the Terra Natura Murcia park, the first in Spain to obtain the certificate. Likewise, 14 beaches in San Javier, 6 beaches in San Pedro del Pintar, six spaces in Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, the City Hall of Cartagena and the Augusteum Temple in the port city have been certified.
