This measure, which was very well received during the de-escalation phases before the summer period, is once again implemented by the Cartagena City Council as an initiative to promote walking on the streets of the historic center of the city, respecting the measures of security by the Covid-19, with the aim that Cartagena and visitors can visit this emblematic area of ??Cartagena respecting the safety distance.“Before the summer we launched this initiative that offered greater security guarantees to residents who went out for a walk or shopping in the center of Cartagena.
After the summer break, we are restarting this measure that we believe can give peace of mind to residents and tourists who visit us, who can enjoy the historic center of our city while promoting less use of vehicles and reducing emissions of CO2 ”, has pointed out the Councilor for Public Roads, Juan Pedro Torralba.Specifically, the circulation of vehicles will be limited on Duque, Serreta, Campos, Jara, Aire and Cañón streets.
These cuts to road traffic will take place from Friday afternoon, starting at 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays.As before the summer, access to the garages by the owners will be allowed, as well as the loading and unloading work, which can be carried out until 11.00 on both Saturdays and Sundays.This initiative, which was launched on May 1 by the Councils for Citizen Security, led by Juan Pedro Torralba, and Sustainable Development, by Cristina Mora, was a success among the residents during the different phases of the de-escalation that occurred in the municipality of Cartagena in May and June."We want pedestrians and cyclists to have more space to be able to enjoy the views and emblematic buildings of our city with guarantees of safety and tranquility, and this is the first step", highlighted Juan Pedro Torralba.
