The summit held this Thursday, September 10, has had the participation of the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Commerce, Manuel Padín; the councilor for Contracting, María Amoraga; municipal technicians and a representative of the Association of Hoteliers of Cartagena (Hostecar). The meeting was preceded by the approval of the Council of Commerce to advance both the Shadow Plan and the study for the installation of public toilets in the municipality, as agreed at the meeting of the advisory body on September 1.
.At the meeting, the need to advance in the reform of the Special Plan for the Management and Protection of the Historic Complex of Cartagena (PEOP) was put on the table, with the aim of guaranteeing the possibility of anchoring the awnings to buildings and urban infrastructures, as well as to place printed advertising on the fabrics. For this reason, the City Council will initiate the modification of the Plan to send it to the General Directorate of Cultural Assets for its update.
In parallel, the municipal technical summit has agreed to start the project on Puerta de Murcia street as a pilot test.Regarding the processing of the Shadow Plan, the cases of other Spanish cities are being followed, such as Murcia and Lorca, in the Region; Malaga and Granada to take them as real and ongoing examples of which to have references.Regarding the installation of public toilets, the technical summit held this Thursday, September 10, has exposed the development of an economic plan to assess the number of urinals that could be installed.
A previous study estimated the number of toilets to be installed at 17, although the budgetary aspect and the possibility that the investment is paid for through advertising in the facilities themselves and the cost of the service must be assessed, as is the case in other cities where the is taking example, like Madrid. In this sense, progress is also being made on a new sheet of urban furniture to regularize this project.
