Two weeks before the start of classes for the new academic year, the president of the regional Executive, Fernando López Miras, received today in San Esteban the new management team of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), led by the rector Beatriz Miguel .The Polytechnic of Cartagena will resume classes in two Mondays, September 21.
It will do so based on a blended model, combining face-to-face and telematic teaching and prioritizing attendance for new students and for experimental subjects, to problem-solving sessions.
However, depending on the epidemiological evolution of the pandemic, the UPCT handles other scenarios, both the return to totally virtual teaching and the return to the old normal once the threat of COVID-19 passes.The UPCT has carried out multiple computer developments and invested in equipment that the UPCT has made to be able to broadcast live classes that are taught in person, as well as the extraordinary resources that have been made available to students.The Community has highlighted "the existing collaboration between the universities and the regional government for the elaboration of all the protocols for the next start of the course", as explained by the Minister of Employment, Research and Universities, Miguel Motas, at the end of the meeting.
Likewise, the counselor highlighted "the proven human and scientific technological potential of the universities", for which he considered that "a large part of the success we achieve in obtaining European funding will depend on the working groups created in the universities".The Polytechnic and the Community are also evaluating the model of the academic opening ceremony of the public universities of the Region, which this year will be held in Cartagena at the end of this month or the beginning of next and which will be very different from that of years above to comply with the security measures established to avoid contagion risks.The meeting has also served to advance positions in the next negotiation of the multi-year financing plan for universities.
The president and those responsible for the UPCT have also spoken about the European funds that will come to face the crisis derived from the pandemic and the need to use them to change the production model.Finally, the meeting discussed the creation of working groups on digitization and telework in the public administration of the Region of Murcia.
