| The drafting of the Caballero del Cerro de Despeñaperros Wall project or the works of the Molino de las Piedras, among the ongoing actions | The Archaeological Heritage Area, headed by the Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has made progress in the bidding process and the start of works on various projects during the summer months that total more than 86,000 euros.Thus, a few days ago the drafting of the Caballero del Cerro de Despeñaperros Wall project was awarded.
The contract, which was awarded on August 6, includes the drafting of the project, the construction management, execution and coordination and the technical management of a section of this wall located in the heart of the city of Cartagena, and on which the Castle of San José.The project has been tendered for the amount of 14,762 euros and, after its drafting, the work will be carried out, which is stipulated around 80,000 euros.In addition, work will begin shortly at the Molino de las Piedras, after the contracting of these works this same month of August, for an amount of 19,904'50 euros.The project will allow the installation of the flat roof in the infrastructure located in the Los Mateos neighborhood, before the installation of the spire, thus reaching the final phase of the works that will value this monument.Likewise, the restoration of the Castillo de la Concepción is already underway, some works that consist of repairing the laying of the Patio de Armas of the fortress, which gives access to it.This work has been awarded on July 20 for an amount of 8,403'45 euros and will end soon."With these works, the City of Cartagena continues to bet on the enhancement of its rich archaeological heritage", highlighted the Mayor of Cartagena.These works respond to the commitment of the mayor to advance in the interventions of conservation and enhancement of the sites and historic buildings of the municipality.
"These buildings are just a sample of our rich history that we must respect and value, and by being restored we will be able to enjoy true architectural jewels of our municipality," he concluded.On Monday the restoration of the sculptures of the Panteón Pedreño beginsNext week the restoration of the three sculptures that flank the Panteón Pedreño in the Remedios cemetery begins.These works, finally awarded for just over 6,200 euros, are part of the rehabilitation and enhancement works of the Pantheon that the Pedreño and Deu family owned in the Cartagena cemetery, and which has been municipally owned for decades.Days ago the works began on the pantheon, which were awarded for 37,268 euros and are consisting of the cleaning and rehabilitation of the exterior walls, the access columns to the portico, the crowns, the oculi that finish the building and all the artistic grills that surrounds it, where the results of these tasks can already be seen.As of Monday, in addition, the three limestone sculptures, representing the three theological graces (Faith, Hope and Charity) will be restored.
