All its partners were able to take part in the meeting both telematically by videoconference and in person at the El Batel auditorium.
The families were accompanied by the general director of People with Disabilities of the IMAS, Conchita Ruiz, and by the regional deputy Antonio Calderón, among other social and political representatives.Astus is an association created by and for families more than 50 years ago and they are the ones that continue to lead the entity that does not stop growing and that has more than one hundred professionals and as many volunteers.
The relatives, with its president, Joaquín Barberá, at the forefront, continue to be the driving force of the entity and who set the course of its activity and participate in its strategic decisions.
For this reason, in an extraordinary assembly they updated their statutes and, in an extraordinary assembly, they approved the accounts for the previous year and its budget, as well as the memory of activities for 2019 and the plans for 2020.The Assembly was able to be held in person with the maximum guarantees for health despite the threat of Covid-19 thanks to the effort and collaboration of the El Batel auditorium.
The organization put all the necessary means to comply in the most rigorous and comfortable way possible with all the recommended precautionary and hygiene measures. Astus is the largest disability organization in the Cartagena region and one of the largest in the Region of Murcia and veterans in all of Spain.
Year after year it continues to evolve to adapt to the needs of its more than 600 families and to defend its rights in all areas of life.
The last expansion was the launch in 2018 of LaResi, a complex with a day center and residence in La Vaguada.
These facilities were added to the Virgen de la Caridad early care center, the Prolam day and special employment centers, the El Cobijo residence, the guardianship house, the supported employment service, etc.In addition, Astus integrates with 25 other associations the Full Inclusion Region of Murcia federation is the result of the union of more than 3,000 families who work together for the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities who employ 640 professionals.
