We do not want the progressive enhancement of this emblematic site to be paralyzed, which is why I wanted to inform the members of the Heritage Commission that we have already submitted the documentation for this year's call, with the aim of obtaining 750,000 euros from a project that we have valued at 1 million euros, for which the City Council has already reserved the remaining 250,000 euros ”, explained Castejón.During the meeting, which included the participation of a dozen people related to or interested in heritage, including representatives of groups as prominent in this area as Adepa and Aforca, they also reported on the projects that have already been completed or are about to be completed.
to end as: the comprehensive rehabilitation and musealization of the Ethnographic Museum of the Ports of Santa Barbara, the repair of the mills on top of the Windlass, the works of the Museum of the Roman Forum from which the transfer of the museum collection has already begun, the rehabilitation works of the archaeological crypt of the Byzantine Wall, closed for years, as well as the enhancement of the tourist office of the Gates of San José."For us, the integral recovery of the historic center is a priority and, within the plan that we are developing, heritage undoubtedly plays a fundamental role since its enhancement makes our municipality a unique tourist destination," recalled the mayor.NEXT ACTIONSLikewise, the members of the Commission were informed of the works that are about to start or in the process of contracting, highlighting among them the II phase of the Roman Amphitheater, which will be tendered at the end of the month, and others such as the restoration project of the modernist pantheon of the Pedreño and Deu family, the topographic survey, clearing of slopes, archaeological prospection and consolidation of the wall of the Castillo de los Moros, the restoration of the Torres Park Murals, the Council Chapel of the Old Cathedral, the entrances of the Victoria Cave and the rehabilitation of the Molino de las Piedras which, once completed, will complete the restoration of all the municipally owned mills.Finally, the Commission was informed of projects that are currently being drafted and that will begin to be carried out at the end of this year, among which is the musealization of the birthplace of Isaac Peral, the adequacy of the interiors of the Victoria Cave and the consolidation works of the fortresses of La Atalaya, Battery San Leandro, Fajardo and Santa Florentina.Among these challenges announced yesterday by the mayoress, the participatory process of collaboration between the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the UMU, the City Council and other entities is also highlighted, which is already working intensively to plan the entire chronology and terms of the project.
