After the visit of the young woman, the councilor for the area, David Martínez, affirmed that "we have great extraordinary young people in Cartagena, but she called us a lot of attention because of the great work she does in countries like Malawi, where she is currently working."The mayor explained that for the jury he stressed that a young Cartagena from her age "had a resume as extensive" as hers ˇ and that she had even received national awards.The young winner, Lola Martínez, thanked the City Council and the Department of Youth for having awarded her this award among all the candidates and explained that "this award is one of the ways to promote and give visibility to the work, still unknown, that many young people do.""It is an award for 'the extraordinary' and I think that the extraordinary is that work that all the NGOs with which I have been participating and collaborating throughout my life do, all the merit is the work they do with very vulnerable groups, that they will continue to be very vulnerable due to the situation that is happening to us, "concluded the winner.Young people born or residing in Cartagena between the ages of 14 to 30 have been able to participate in this award.
The contest aims to recognize the figure of those young people from the municipality who have stood out throughout 2019, or who have an outstanding professional career in different fields, demonstrating a talent and initiative that distinguishes them.
